Business loan declined by Bizcap, what next?
Bizcap has declined your specialist short-term loan or MCA application. Bizcap is a specialist lender that says it will consider businesses with bad credit, lending £5,000 to £1,000,000 (per its own site), so a Bizcap decline is often a sign that the file needs work before another application.
Why this triggers a decline
Bizcap says that to qualify for most of its loans a business needs an active Companies House registration number, at least 4 months of trading and monthly revenue of at least £12,000 (bizcap.co.uk, checked September 2026). Missing one of those is a common reason for a decline.
Bizcap doesn't publish how often each reason occurs. Other common reasons include: an active winding-up petition or HMRC enforcement, an active insolvency process, recent unsatisfied CCJs, bounced payments and returned direct debits on recent bank statements, problems on a previous facility, and a sector it doesn't fund.
Alternatives that work
- JPM Capital for an alternative specialist post-decline underwriter
- Asset finance against specific clean equipment where the asset is the security
- Invoice finance against quality debtor book if invoices exist
- Restructuring advice if the underlying problem is solvency rather than access to credit
Lenders that may consider this
- JPM Capital (specialist post-decline, similar risk appetite)
- Asset finance specialists for clean-asset-backed deals
- Invoice finance providers if B2B receivables exist
- Specialist post-decline brokers for harder cases
What to do first
- Ask Bizcap for the main reason for the decline.
- If the issue is HMRC enforcement, agree a Time to Pay with HMRC and let it bed in for 30 to 60 days before reapplying anywhere.
- If the issue is bounced payments in the last 30 days, fix the underlying cash gap and let the bank statements clear before reapplying.
- If the issue is multiple recent CCJs, satisfy what you can and document the rest before approaching JPM Capital.
- If the underlying issue is solvency rather than access to credit, talk to a licensed insolvency practitioner; a CVA or restructuring may be the right answer rather than more debt.
