Accessibility

Our aim

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. We are not perfect, and we keep finding and fixing issues.

Features to help you

• Skip to main content. A "Skip to main content" link is the first thing you reach when you press Tab.
• Text size: A A A. On larger screens, the three A buttons in the header change the text size (standard, larger, largest). Your choice is remembered on this device.
• Site search. A labelled search box sits in the header on larger screens, and the menu on smaller screens links to the search page.
• Site index. The site index lists every page in one place.
• Plain-English glossary. The glossary explains the terms lenders and brokers use.
• Keyboard and screen readers. The site works with a keyboard, and pages use clear headings, labelled form fields and page landmarks.

Colours

We do not use colour alone to show whether something is good or bad; tables and labels say it in words too. We do not offer a second colour scheme. If you need different colours or more contrast, your browser zoom and your device's contrast and colour-filter settings work on this site.

Making reading easier

• Zoom in with your browser: press Ctrl and + (Cmd and + on a Mac), or pinch to zoom on a phone.
• On larger screens, use the Text size: A A A buttons in the header.
• Use your device or browser's read-aloud feature, for example VoiceOver, TalkBack, Narrator or the browser's Read aloud option.
• Use the site index to find a page without using the menus.

Known limitations

• The Text size: A A A buttons and the header search box only show on larger screens. On phones, use your browser zoom and the search link in the menu.
• Our calculators and the enquiry form need JavaScript to work.
• Some comparison tables are wide and scroll sideways on phones.
• Downloadable PDF templates and spreadsheets, and our ICO registration certificate, may not be fully accessible. If you need one in another format, ask us.
